Seaside Firefighters Association in a unanimous action on September 9 voted to endorse me in my candidacy for Mayor of Seaside.  Also endorsed were Council candidates Dennis Alexander and Alvin Edwards.

Seaside Taxpayers Association in a unanimous action on September 22 voted to endorse me in my candidacy for Mayor of Seaside.

Retired Police Chief Steve Cercone endorsed me in a guest editorial in the Monterey County Herald on October 10.  The piece mentions ”suspicions of government misinformation, denial and financial inefficiency” and other critical issues affecting Seaside the past few years.  Chief Cercone details some of the attempts to fix it, including my candidacy.

Monterey Peninsula Toy Box, a site dedicated to “Fun and useful information about California's most beautiful community” has also endorsed me.  The Toy Box has lots of useful information on fun things to do on the Monterey Peninsula.

The Monterey Peninsula Herald did not endorse me but had some very positive and kind words: “Felix Bachofner, is a tremendously bright and energetic young businessman who thoroughly understands the city's economic and commercial issues.”

Same idea with the Monterey County Weekly, which pointed out I “exhibit[s] an attention to detail that straddles the line between brilliant and obsessive...”  Supporter Michael Niemann called that day and asked “How did that assessment not result in an endorsement?  If I need surgery, I want a ‘brilliant, obsessive’ surgeon — and it’s clear just from driving around town that Seaside needs a surgeon.”

Past Elections

Here’s what was said about my candidacy for Seaside Council in 2008:

The Herald endorsed me in its October 8 issue.

Among other qualities, the Herald highlighted: “While bringing more business acumen to the council, he would also shake up what can be an insiders' club.”  It continued mentioning my “outsider's perspective, that makes Bachofner's candidacy attractive. He is smart and aggressive—smart enough to ask the right questions and aggressive enough to insist on straight answers.”

 

Monterey County Weekly endorsed me in its October 16 issue.

The Weekly wrote I have “vision for the city, [am] committed to seeing some key developments go through, support sustainability and will bring a refreshingly independent spirit to the City Council. We’re delighted to see such strong candidates for council.”

 

The Monterey County Association of Realtors BORPAC endorsed me on October 7.

BORPAC is the only commerce oriented group to make an endorsement this election cycle.
